Joseph Robert Preston

Longtime Newtown Resident

Joseph Robert Preston, 61, of Newtown, died April 24 at his home following a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport on January 7, 1947, he was the son of Joseph M. Preston and his wife, Marion, of Fla. and the late Eleanor Boroczky Preston. 

Mr Preston was a longtime resident of Newtown, previously residing in Monroe and Southbury. He worked as a union fire sprinkler contractor until the time of his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Shannon Preston of Mass., Joseph Miklus and Matt Miklus, both of Shelton; sisters, Patricia Stapleton and her husband, Vincent, Jr, of Stratford and Ann Marie Preston of Texas; a brother, Michael Preston and his wife, Ann P., of Sandy Hook; a granddaughter; as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his mother, a brother, Richard Preston, predeceased him.

 Funeral services were held Monday, April 28 at 7 pm in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, Ansonia. Interment was private.
