Alamanda Choir ‘American Songbook’

SOUTH BRITAIN — Alamanda Women’s Choir, directed by Amy Bernon, will present “American Songbook,” a unique offering of choral music spanning the 1860s to the 1960s.

“California Dreamin’,” “Gershwin for Girls,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Route 66,” and a variety of spirituals, folk songs and legendary hits will be featured on the program, which will be performed on Wednesday, May 7, at 7:30 pm, at South Britain Congregational Church.

Anna Jedd will be the accompanist for the evening, and Denita Yeomans is choir’s the assistant director. The choir, composed of women from towns throughout western Connecticut, is in its seventh season.

A suggested donation of $10 per person will be accepted at the door.  Children who are able to enjoy a music performance quietly are welcome to attend.

Attendees will be invited to enjoy a reception of homemade treats following the performance. 

The church is at the intersection of Route 172 and East Flat Hill Road, about one mile from I-84 Exit 14. It large parking lot across the street, connected to the church grounds via a pedestrian crosswalk. For more contact Amy Bernon at 203-232-7857 or AlamandaCT@yahoo.com.
