Town & Country Plant Sale Next Weekend

The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown is beginning to wonder if gremlins have begun to appear and affect their schedule of monthly events.

In March, there was a mix-up at the senior center. The club moved its program into a much smaller room than usual because the Legislative Council  needed the room. The council had been told the larger meeting room was available for the more than 75 people who showed up to discuss the town budget.

In April, their guest speaker who was supposed to demonstrate flower arranging for beginner and intermediate arrangers never arrived due to missed communication, but once again the club members rose to the occasion.

Barbara O’Connor, a wonderful flower arranger in her own right, volunteered to act as a facilitator as people attempted to create wonderful floral bouquets. By the end of the evening, the tables were filled with an array of dramatic and colorful blooms.

Since the Town and Country Garden Club will be holding their sixth annual plant sale on Saturday, May 10, from 9 am to 2 pm, in front of The Inn at Newtown, the members now feel confident that they will easily be able to produce a variety of flower filled baskets for purchase to accompany a multitude of member grown perennials that will also be for sale. This event has proven to be very popular to those people who know a good deal when they see one.
