School Budget Is

Like A Black Hole

To the Editor:

Cutting a million dollars from the budget still isn’t going to solve the money woes heaped on the older taxpayers in Newtown. The people spending the taxpayers’ money have to be held accountable and money going to the “school budget” is like sending something into a “black hole” –– no one really knows where it goes but they manage to spend every last penny. So what if a math teacher quits because they didn’t get a raise –– that’s reality in today’s world economy.

Hopefully the taxpayers are smart enough to vote down the next budget referendum as still being too much to bear for the services the town provides –– people in other towns have put the politicians and school boards on notice that they aren’t going to take the increases, we should do the same.

Sincerely,

Arthur W. Hechler
