Program On âSuddenly Uninsuredâ
The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging and The Homesteads at Newtown will sponsor a conference, âSuddenly Uninsuredâ on Thursday, May 8, from 8 am to noon, at The Homesteads, 166 Mt Pleasant Road.
The conference will assist consumers and providers determine benefits and eligibility programs available to assist those who find themselves suddenly without insurance. Designed to provide the latest information on Cobra benefits, private insurance options, Medicaid, Social Security disability income, and durable medical equipment, this conference will provide useful information in an easy-to-comprehend format. A written guide will be included.
Enrollment fee is $10 per person. A continental breakfast will be served.
The âSuddenly Uninsuredâ initiative is organized by the Western Connecticut Area on Aging, a private nonprofit corporation that develops, manages, and provides comprehensive services for seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities in order to maintain their independence and quality of life. All activities by the agency are governed by the federal Older Americans Act and the State of Connecticut.
