Monica Bergen
Monica (Buck) Bergen, 63, wife of Hal Lundquist of Copper Creek Circle, Newtown, died April 25 in Danbury.
She was born in Detroit Lakes, Minn., May 19, 1939, a daughter of the late Leroy and Martha (Tembrock) Bergen. She was a graduate of Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minn. She received a master of arts degree from Fairfield University.
Monica taught English at Tomlinson Junior High School in Fairfield and for 12 years taught at Harding High School in Bridgeport. Following her teaching career, Monica became a certified financial planner for American Express Financial Services in Westport.
She is survived, besides her husband, by two sons, Tom Buck of Bridgeport and Greg Buck of Oxford; two daughters, Debie Reyes of Fairfield and Cathy Selezan of Newtown; 12 brothers and sisters; and nine grandchildren, Mike, Steve, Jason, Daniel, Matthew, Bil, Monica, Joe, and Jeff.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, April 29.
Her body will be returned to her birthplace, Detroit Lakes, Minn., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 5, at Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Sunday, May 4.
Arrangements are by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
