DANBURY ââ A talk about Lyme disease will lead off the 18th annual Joseph L. Belsky, MD, Research Day at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, May 7, in the John C. Creasy auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
Keynote speaker Stephen E. Malawista, MD, professor of medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, will discuss âUnderstanding the Curious Clinical Facets of Lyme Diseaseâ beginning at 8 am.
Attendees will have the opportunity to view posters in the exhibit area located in the fifth floor Stroock connector outside the auditorium.
Oral presentations, each 15 minutes long, begin at 9:45 am beginning with a discussion of fluorine-18 deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) in the evaluation and staging of lung cancer; 10 am, the auto-immune origin of myelodysplastic syndrome; 10:15 am, gastric bypass surgery for morbid obesity, a review of 101 cases at Danbury Hospital; 10:30 am, laparoscopic adrenalectomy at Danbury Hospital; 10:45 am, child abuse and neglect and values of prevention programs; 11 am, sleep-walk modulation by ancient hormone Arginin-Vasoticin electrophysiology; 11:15 am, âSZ Phenotype, ANCA, and More.â
The panelists are doctors and other medical staff from Danbury Hospital.
The moderators include Dr Vincent Rella from the hospitalâs department of medicine, oncology section, and Dr Howard Blanchette, chairman of the hospitalâs department of obstetrics and gynecology.
The program is free and no reservations are required. Registration begins at 7:30 am in the auditorium lobby.
The event celebrates 77 years of graduate medical education at the hospital.
