Margeret B. Schmidt

Margeret B. Schmidt, 92, of Red Bluff, Calif., died April 24 at St Elizabeth Community Hospital, Red Bluff, Calif. She was the wife of the late Ferdinand Schmidt.

Mrs Schmidt was born on March 11, 1911, in Newark, N.J., a daughter of the late Emil and Regina (Eisel) Buchert. In 1931 she married Ferdinand Schmidt of Bridgeport and lived there until 1953 when she moved to Newtown. Then in 1993 she moved to Oakland, Calif., where she resided until her move to Red Bluff in 1998.

A longtime member of the Orient Chapter #1, Order of Eastern Star in Bridgeport, she was a past worthy matron.

She is survived by a daughter, Margeret-Ann McCornack of Red Bluff, Calif.; a son, Charles P. Schmidt, Sr, of Bethel; three grandchildren, Charles P. Schmidt, Jr, of Labadie, Mo., Eric F. Schmidt of Brookfield, and Karen E. McCornack-Mattea of Cottonwood, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren, Kaprise, Bryce, Lucas, Katie, Maya, and Christopher.

At the request of the family, contributions may be made to the Joslin Clinic Research Department, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.

The funeral service was held on April 30 at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, with the Rev Susan Townsley officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. An Eastern Star Service was held April 29.
