SENIOR BOYS

 

NEWTOWN (A) 7, REDDING (A) 3: Matt DeLuca, Matt Kelly and Matt Wheeler – the Matt Attack – led the offense in a win over Redding. Steve Murtha and DeLuca had two goals apiece with Mike LaPerch, John Oliver and Kelly scored one apiece. Wheeler added an assist as Ryan Bigham, Murtha and Kyle Kirch controlled the midfield and combined for 15 ground balls. Chris Body made 10 saves in goal.

NEWTOWN (A) 6, NEW FAIRFIELD (A) 3: John Oliver, Kyle Kirch, Matt Kelly and Steve Murtha combined for 38 ground ball pickups. Murtha had two goals and an assist as Oliver had a goal and an assist to power the offense. Matt Kelly, Matt DeLuca and Matt Wheeler each had a goal.

NEWTOWN (A) 4, CHESHIRE (A) 3: An extraordinary defensive effort by Newtown’s man-down unit, led by Jay Romanelli, Ryan Bigham and Kyle Kirch, held Cheshire scoreless for 10 of 11 extra-man situations to lead Newtown to the win. Devon Manfredonia, Colin Curran and Brian Sharnick shut down the Cheshire attack while Chris Body made eight saves in goal, Mike LaPerch, Matt Kelly, John Oliver and Steve Murtha combined for 29 ground balls. Oliver, LaPerch, Murth and Matt DeLuca each scored.

JUNIOR BOYS

 

NEW FAIRFIELD (A) 5, NEWTOWN (A) 4: Tyler Law scored a pair of goals while Brendan Kelly and Oliver Paynter scored one apiece to lead Newtown. Law, Sean Tarrant, Paynter and Greg Hill all provided assists. Tarrant, Grant Speer and Paynter had four ground balls apiece.
