Happy Birthday, Danbury Hospital — From Caraluzzi’s Market
BETHEL— Caraluzzi’s Markets received an order recently from Nuvance Health for 1,700 assorted jumbo gourmet cupcakes. The cupcakes were to be given out to every employee on Monday, April 27, to celebrate the 135th anniversary of Danbury Hospital. Caraluzzi’s decided to donate them, instead, honored for the opportunity to be able to give back to the healthcare workers battling on the frontlines of this pandemic.
Caraluzzi’s Bakery Coordinator Heather Ramos assembled a team in the Bethel and Newtown bakery locations to accommodate the large order and quick turnaround. Working with two locations because of the added constraints of social distancing in the workplace was an added challenge.
Each specialty cupcake was prepared, hand decorated, and individually packaged by the Caraluzzi’s bakery staff. The cupcakes have gained in popularity, most notably during Connecticut’s period of quarantine, and includes varieties such as salted caramel, cannoli, red velvet, S’mores and brownie cookie dough.
“We’re especially glad to be able to help out during this crisis and hope our efforts help put a smile on the faces of these heroes in such a difficult time. While it’s been an extremely hectic and stressful time for our own employees, I couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and dedication and willingness to pitch in,” said Mark Caraluzzi, President and CEO for Caraluzzi’s Markets.
