Berkshire Crash
Motorist Darcy Dos Santos, 45, of Danbury, who was driving a 1992 Ford pickup truck westward on Berkshire Road on the afternoon of April 22, swerved to the right to avoid some stopped traffic, but in doing so, the Ford struck a curbside mailbox and a flower garden at 21 Berkshire Road, police report.
Dos Santos continued driving westward after the collision, leaving the scene, police said.
Police said they located the truck a short time later and found that its front bumper had some collision damage.
Police charged Dos Santos with evading responsibility, making a restricted turn, driving without a license, and driving without automotive insurance. Police released Dos Santos on $200 bail for a May 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Burglary Arrests
Police report they have arrested two teenage boys on warrants in connection with two house burglaries in which the pair allegedly was involved.
Police charged each of the 17-year-old youths on April 20 with two counts of third-degree burglary.
In a burglary on Storm Ridge Road reported on January 31, items valued at approximately $275 were stolen, including cash, a piggy bank, and two necklaces, police said.
Also, in a burglary on Castle Meadow Road reported on February 1, items valued at $500 were stolen, including cash and a finger ring, according to police.
The two arrested boys were released for appearances in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the youths are under age 18, their identities and the disposition of their cases are concealed by state law.
Longstanding Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest in connection with an incident that occurred in 2000, a Minnesota woman turned herself in at the police station on the morning of April 24 and was arrested on a charge of sale of alcohol to minors or procuring alcohol for minors, police said.
Police allege that Suzanne Lancey, 33, of Plymouth, Minn., allegedly purchased a keg of beer which was to be used by about 20 teenagers at a party at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road on April 20, 2000.
Police said they confiscated that keg and determined that Lancey had purchased it for the teenagers.
Lancey was scheduled to appear for a court arraignment on April 24.
Vandalism
Police are investigating an incident of vandalism that occurred at a house on Hundred Acres Road on April 21 or 22. The incident constitutes third-degree criminal mischief in which the damage is estimated at less than $250. Police ask anyone with information on the matter to contact either Officer Michael McGowan or Officer John McDermott at the police station at 426-5841.
Chevrolet Vs Dodge
Motorist Blanche Kowalski, 63, of 16 Pole Bridge Road was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer SUV in a commercial parking lot near 102 Church Hill Road about 2:40 pm April 24, when the Chevrolet backed into a parked, unoccupied 2005 Dodge Durango SUV, police said. Police said they verbally warned Kowalski for unsafe backing.
Collision
A two-vehicle accident occurred about 1:30 pm April 22 at the intersection of Main Street and Schoolhouse Hill Road.
Police report that motorist Renate Oebel, 74, of 178 Hanover Road was driving a 2002 Chrysler Sebring southward on Main Street and was preparing to make a left turn onto eastbound Schoolhouse Hill Road.
At that time, motorist Lydia Romanik, 82, of West Haven was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta northward on Main Street, police said.
The Chrysler then attempted to make the left turn and collided with the Volkswagen, police said. The Chrysler continued moving and struck some curbing and a street sign, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Oebel a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Truck Mirrors
Two pickup trucks collided on Little Brook Lane about 8:40 am April 22.
Police said motorist Paul Hauck, 48, of 200 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2003 Ford F-350 eastward near 7 Little Brook Lane, as motorist Leonard Squibb III, 45, of Monroe was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado westward there.
As the trucks passed by one another, their left exterior rear-view mirrors collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they took no enforcement action because no evidence was available to determine fault in the case.
Intersection
Police report a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Glover Avenue, Main Street, Sugar Street, and South Main Street about 10:36 am April 23.
Both of the vehicles involved in the crash had been traveling westward on Glover Avenue, police said.
A 2000 Ford sedan driven by Nicholas Hall, 22, of Cherry Street, attempted to change travel lanes and collided with a 1980 Volkswagen station wagon driven by Christopher Hoagland, 21, of Glen Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Hall a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle accident occurred about 2:06 pm April 22 near 10 Berkshire Road, police said.
The accident involved motorist Christopher Cardelle, 18, of 30 Scudder Road, who was driving a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado, motorist Robert T. Eckenrode, Jr, 18, of 7 Wildcat Road, who was driving a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, and motorist Christian Montanez, 18, of 14 Indian Hill Lane, who was driving a 1996 Buick Century station wagon, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Cardelle an infraction for following too closely and for failure to carry a driverâs license. Police added that they gave Eckenrode an infraction for following too closely.
I-84 Incident
State police said they arrested motorist Mykhaylo Pohrebny, 25, of Carmel, N.Y., on charges of evading responsibility and driving without a license in connection with a motor vehicle accident that had occurred near Exit 11 of eastbound Interstate 84 on the night of April 25.
State police released Pohrebny on $1,000 bail for a May 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Vehicle Hits Pole
Motorist Denise Kemmerer, 47, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Volvo XC-70 station wagon westward on Church Hill Road, made a left turn onto southbound Queen Street about 10:40 pm April 25, after which she became distracted and struck a utility pole, police report.
Kemmerer was not injured. Police said they issued her an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Two Charges
About 3:37 pm April 27, police stopped motorist Patti J. Roberts, 45, of Norwalk near 11 Queen Street to investigate.
Police said they charged Roberts with illegal use of a handheld cellphone and with driving while under suspension.
After processing, police released Roberts on $100 bail for a May 13 court appearance.
Queen Street
A two-vehicle accident occurred on Queen Street, near Newtown Middle School, about 8:25 am on April 28.
Police said motorist Paul Veillette, 50, of Chestnut Hill Road was driving a 2007 BMW 3-series sedan in the right northbound lane, as motorist Teresa Skoniecki, 52, of Ansonia was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry sedan in the left northbound lane. The two vehicles then collided.
Ambulance volunteers transported Skoniecki to Danbury Hospital to be evaluated, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. No enforcement action was taken.
Horseshoe Ridge
Police are investigating several cases of someone entering unlocked vehicles in residential driveways of the Horseshoe Ridge Road area and stealing small valuables from within the vehicles.
The incidents occurred late on the night of April 28 and early on the morning of April 29.
Police urge residents to keep their vehicles locked and to remove any valuables from within them when unattended.
Boat Stolen
Sometime between 4 pm on April 4, and 8 am on April 26, someone removed a Sears-brand 12-foot-long boat from storage at 11 Taunton Lake Road, police said. The boat has Connecticut registration #CT236-AN.
Anyone with information on the boatâs whereabouts is asked to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.
Distracted Driving
Motorist Cornelia Goelz-Schmitt, 45, of 28 Platts Hill Road was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz ML-320 SUV southward on Main Street near Edmond Town Hall about 2 pm April 24, when she stopped for a pedestrian in the crosswalk there, police said.
Motorist Grace Lewis, 71, of Southbury, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy station wagon southward behind the Mercedes, was distracted while looking at a nearby advertising sign, and then slowed, but struck the rear end of the Mercedes, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Lewis a written warning for distracted driving.
River Edge
Motorist Induk Song, 47, of 12 River Edge Drive was driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy station wagon northward on Walnut Tree Hill Road and then slowed to make a proper left turn onto River Edge Drive at about 3:43 pm April 24, when the Subaru was struck from behind by a northbound 2008 Saab 9-3 sedan driven by Pamela Ricard, 54, of Middlebury, police report.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Ricard for following too closely.

On The Curve
Motorist Daniel Creaturo, 17, of 332 South Main Street was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus station wagon northward on Lantern Drive and was negotiating a curve, as motorist George Phillips, Jr, 74, of 11 Lantern Drive was driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne southward on that curve about 2 :30 pm April 28, police said.
The Ford crossed the roadâs centerline and collided with the Buick, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Creaturo an infraction for failure to keep to the right on a curve.
