Voting For A Responsible Budget
Voting For A Responsible Budget
To the Editor:
Thank you to the 3,000+ voters who recognized a responsible budget and voted to maintain the quality and level of service provided by the town and Board of Education. No one wants their taxes to increase, but this year my neighbors have come to realize that it takes money to keep the good things we have in Newtown going.
I urge everyone to continue their involvement and sense of urgency throughout the year as Newtown continues to face issues that will impact our future (and budgets), such as: finalizing a Fairfield Hills Master Plan, bonding money for and acquiring open space, deciding what type of economic development will benefit the town and where, etc. Please consider the implications of these and other issues as they arise, please participate at hearings and voice your opinion, and please support those proposals and initiatives that are rational, reasonable, and will help to maintain the quality of life we enjoy in Newtown.
This is your town â your voice, your vote and your opinion matter. You can make a difference.Â
