SOUTHBURY â On Saturday, May 1, the Connecticut State Police will again unite with the charitable organization Chariots of Hope for the seventh annual statewide wheelchair collection.
Chariots of Hope is a nonprofit, Connecticut-based organization that collects unused or unwanted wheelchairs, refurbishes them, and distributes them to people in the United States and around the world that are in need of a wheelchair.
There are an estimated 20 million people in need of wheelchairs around the world.
Last year Chariots of Hope and the Connecticut State Police collected more than 100 donated wheelchairs.
