John Joseph Hugo, 35, of Bethel, died April 28 at Danbury Hospital.
John was born in Danbury, December 26, 1968, the son of Robert G. and Mary (Crowley) Hugo, of Bethel. A lifelong Bethel resident, he graduated from Bethel High School, Class of 1987, and later graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a bachelor of arts degree in history.
He continued his education, receiving his master of arts degree in American studies from Fairfield University, and continued his graduate studies at both Yale University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Upon completion of his graduate work, he retired to study his familyâs history.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his sister, Mary H. Nielson and her husband Peter Alan Nielson of Newtown, and his nephew, Steven Nielson of Newtown. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert G. Hugo, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled to be celebrated on Friday, April 30, at St Mary Church, Bethel at 11 am. Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth A. Haas Library at Western Connecticut State University, 181 White Street, Danbury, CT 06810.
