Elizabeth Ann (Maestro) Yanzo

Elizabeth Ann (Maestro) Yanzo, 58, of Newtown, died peacefully after a battle with cancer on April 22, which was also her ten-year wedding anniversary. At the time of her passing she was at Danbury Hospital among her family and friends.

Liz was born in Norwalk, August 10, 1945, daughter of the late Joseph Rogers and Elizabeth (Masi) Rogers. She attended Norwalk schools and was a bookkeeper for 18 years at her daughter’s salon, Dawn’s Pizzazz. Many knew Liz for her Faith in God and her devotion to reaching out to people.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Yanzo of Newtown; two daughters, Dawn Maestro Blom and her husband Jeffrey A. Blom of Thomaston, and Debbie Maestro Barrigas of Bethel; two stepchildren, Christine Bojarczyk and her husband Richard of Danbury, Joseph Yanzo III of Torrington; four grandchildren, Mason J. Beers, Zachary Barrigas, Stefani M. Barrigas, and Pierce J. Blom; two brothers, Lou Rogers of Florida and Phil Rogers of Torrington; and many nieces and nephews. Liz was predeceased by her husband, Arthur W. Maestro.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Peter Church, Danbury, on April 26. Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery.
