Another Record For Dennen

Pat Dennen of Newtown set the 5,000-meter record at Eastern Connecticut State University with a 15:48.11 at the Silfen Track and Field Invitational at Connecticut College on Saturday, April 17. Dennen’s effort broke Guy Cain’s 14-year-old record of 15:49.00. He shaved some 24 seconds off the 5,000-meter time he registered against Trinity College two weeks before (where he finished 15th out of 27 runners). Dennen also owns the school record in the 10,000 meters, a time of 33:43.60 he set against Northeastern back on Saturday, March 27th. He finished sixth in the event. At the Silfen Invitational, the Warriors came in second behind the United States Coast Guard Academy and finished ahead of New England Alliance competitors UMass-Dartmouth, Fitchburg State and Worcester State.
