Albin R. Mickewich

Albin R. Mickewich, 86, of Joan Drive, Newtown, died April 25 in Danbury Hospital. Mr Mickewich was the husband of the late Marta (Kedzierski) Mickewich.

He was born in Bayonne, N.J., December 16, 1916, a son of the late Stephen and Lucy (Vertalis) Mickewich. Al was a graduate of Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Columbia University Teachers College.

During World War II he served in the US Marines in the Pacific Theater, with the rank of lieutenant.

Mr Mickewich was employed as the assistant postmaster at the Paramus, N.J., Post Office, until his retirement in 1980.

A longtime resident of River Vale, N.J., he was a member of the VFW Post in Park Ridge, N.J., and the Knights of Columbus. For the past seven years he has lived in Newtown, where he was a member of the Newtown Lions Club and the Newtown Country Club.

Mr Mickewich is survived by a daughter, Elaine B. Ratzing of Newtown, and by a son, Robert A. Mickewich of Waterbury; three granddaughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline Ratzing, and Katherine Mickewich; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 29 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
