Operatic Roles & Ballet Music By DCO And Guests

DANBURY — Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of guest conductor Christopher Blair, will perform on Saturday, May 12, at 8 pm, in Ives Concert Hall of Western Connecticut State University, at 181 White Street.

Admission to the concert, which is being sponsored by Fred and Joan Weisman, is free.

The featured guest artist will be Rose Maria Baker, a soprano who has performed a variety of operatic roles worldwide. Ms Baker will perform arias from Victor Herbert’s The Prima Donna, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Puccini’s Tosca and Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo.

The orchestra will also perform dances from the ballet Estancia by the Argentinean composer Alberto Ginastera. Estancia, the Argentinean work for “Ranch” is a depiction of four scenes from “Life On a Ranch in Argentina.” DCO will also play Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88.
