Jim Mangold, 88, died peacefully at home in Sarasota, Fla., April 20. He was a longtime resident of Newtown, and more recent resident of Danbury and Sarasota. He was born in Pittsburgh, Penn. 

Mr Mangold enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17, and served during World War II. After the Navy, he completed his college education, and then began his successful career at Pepsi Cola for more than 40 years.

His first wife, Mary, and son Paul Mangold predeceased Mr Mangold. His second wife, Divina Mangold, and her extended family in Brazil; his children Rick Mangold, Judy Crane, Barb Mangold, Bill Mangold, John Mangold, and Tricia Mangold Heiser; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive him.

Mr Mangold’s love of life, generosity, dedication to family, and infectious laugh will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
