DANBURY â Danbury Hospitalâs Department of Medical Education invites health care professionals and members of the community to attend the 20th Annual Joseph L. Belsky, MD, Research Day on Wednesday, May 4, in the John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium. Registration begins at 7:30 am in the auditorium lobby.
This year, the Department of Medical Education celebrates 20 years of presenting research to the greater Danbury community.
âWe could not have imagined so long and consistent a tradition when we started two decades ago with only a few abstracts,â said Dr Joseph L. Belsky, Research Day founder and an attending physician in the Department of Medicine, section of endocrinology and metabolism at Danbury Hospital.
Research Day represents the hard work of Danbury Hospital faculty, residents, and students who fulfill the requirement for Danbury Hospital teaching programs that encourage research and scientific writing. Residents, students, and faculty undertake these studies on their own time.
Dr Belsky will provide opening remarks at 8 am and introduce keynote speaker Margretta R. Seashore, MD, professor of genetics and pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine, and director of the Biochemical Disease Detection Laboratory, who will discuss âGenomics and Medicine in the 21st Century.â
Dr Seashore completed her undergraduate studies at Swarthmore College and earned her medical degree at Yale University. Her research interests center on clinical genetics and inborn errors of metabolism, diagnosis, and treatment.
Continental breakfast will be served in the auditorium lobby after Dr Seashoreâs lecture, and participants will have an opportunity to review poster exhibits on display in the fifth floor Stroock connector outside the auditorium. Fifteen-minute oral presentations are scheduled from 9:45 to 11:45 am. No RSVP is required. The community is welcome.
