NBLA Dinner Event On

Saturday Dinner

The public is invited to join Newtown Bridle Lands Association (MBLA) members for the annual Swing Your Partner Country Dance and Supper on Saturday, April 30. The NBLA has also organized a Chili Cook-Off.

Proceeds for the annual dance, which this year features Bill Fisher and The Wild Notes, will go to the NBLA Scholarship Fund.

The fundraising event was conceived as a way to pay tribute to NBLA member and friend Linda Sousa, who passed away three years ago from breast cancer. Linda lived and raised her family in Newtown and was often seen riding the horse trails on her beloved mare, Becky. To pay tribute to her memory, a $500 scholarship is awarded annually to any senior from Newtown, or member of the NBLA, who plans on majoring in equine science, veterinary science or the environmental sciences. Past recipients are Lindsey Hudson Tolles and Jessica Myers Bittner.

Local caller Bill Fisher and The Wild Notes are accomplished musicians with an eclectic style mixing Celtic, blue grass, and traditional dance music.

The event will be held in The Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall. Dinner starts at 6 pm, while dancing starts at 8 and goes on until 10:30; BYOB.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25, or $10 for the dance only and is open to the public and is tax deductible.

Give Dee Davis a call at 426-7032 for a reservation, especially anyone who would like to participate in the Chili Cook-Off.
