Lions Help Disabled Water Skiers

Newtown Lions Club recently presented a check for $250 to Joel Zeisler, former national water ski champion and lead instructor of the Leaps of Faith Lake Zoar Water Ski Club.

In existence for more than 20 years, the club began teaching blind, visually impaired, and physically impaired children and adults in 1991. The goal of the club is to build lasting confidence and fulfillment through exposure and professional training in recreational and competitive water skiing to disabled children and adults.

The club, which also trains disabled water skiers to compete both on a national and international level, is affiliated with the USA Water Ski Association.

Recently the local club became associated with Gaylord Rehabilitation Hospital and will be holding three clinics in Sandy Hook for persons with disabilities. These clinics are set for June 25, July 15, and August 20. Advance registration is required. For more information visit the website www.powerplaypersonaltraining.com/LeapsOfFaith.html or call Mr Zeisler at 426-0666.
