Fair Highlights Career Options At NHS

Students with a wide range of interests participated in the LIFE Fair (Life Information for Future Employment) that was sponsored by the Newtown High School Career Center on Tuesday, April 26.
The fair provided students who may or may not be interested in the typical four- year college path with information about options they may want to pursue after graduating from high school. Students were invited to stop by the main lobby between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, for an opportunity to speak to representatives to learn more information about technical schools, two year colleges, trade schools, corporations, etc.
Bryan Mesko, a sophomore, stopped by to check out the various informational booths available. While he is a younger student who is undecided about what career path he might follow, he said he found the LIFE Fair to be very informative and worthwhile. âIt gives you some options to think about,â he said.
Some of the representatives providing information were: Naugatuck Valley Community College, International Union of Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Training and Skill Improvement Fund, Plumbers and Pipefitter Training Center, John Robert Powers Modeling and Acting Co., School of Allied Health Danbury Hospital, Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, Norwalk Community College, Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, Ricciâs Hair, Connecticut State Police, Big Y, Gibbs College, and others. For further information stop by the Career Center.
