Auditions For 'Footloose' At Sherman Playhouse
Auditions For âFootlooseâ At Sherman Playhouse
SHERMAN â Lanny Mitchell of Danbury, who will be the director and choreographer of the musical Footloose for The Sherman Players, has scheduled auditions for The Sherman Playersâ production of the musical.
Based on the 1984 feature film and a hit when produced on Broadway, Footloose concerns a streetwise city boy named Ren, who comes to live in a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned. He rebels by setting out to undermine this repression by way of song and dance and eventually has everyone in town up and on their feet.
Mr Mitchell is looking for male and female actors and dancers of ethnic diversity between ages 17 to 50. Dance auditions are Saturdays, April 30 and May 7, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Brookfield Center for the Performing Arts, 994 Federal Road in Brookfield. Dancers should be prepared to learn a short routine.
Auditions for actors and singers are Sundays, May 1 and May 8, from 3 to 7 pm, at Sherman Playhouse, located at the junction of routes 37 and 39 (behind Sherman Firehouse). Those who audition should prepare a song and bring the sheet music. Dancers and singers also are needed for roles in the chorus.
The date for callbacks is May 15 at the playhouse. Show dates for Footloose are Friday and Saturday nights, July 8 through August 13, with some Sunday matinees.
Lanny Mitchell is returning to the Sherman Playhouse after several successful productions in recent seasons. His credits in Sherman include Company, BIG the Musical, West Side Story and last summerâs A Chorus Line.
