Virginia M. Chiaramonte
Virginia Mary Chiaramonte (Ginny), a devoted mother, grandmother, and longtime parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, passed away peacefully in Danbury on April 21, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on January 23, 1935, Ginny was the daughter of the late James and Marie Carrick (Tague). She was a loving homemaker whose life centered around faith, family, and service to her community. Her warmth, strength, and steady presence touched everyone who knew her. She graduated from Stella Maris Commercial High School in Rockaway Park, N.Y., and was very proud to receive a diploma as an Infant Care Technician from The New York Foundling Hospital.
Ginny married the love of her life, Thomas Chiaramonte (Tom), on June 21, 1958, and they had three children. They loved gathering with friends and family and enjoyed life in Monroe and Newtown; Boca Raton, Fla., and North Salem, N.Y., at their summer cottage. Ginny was a doting grandmother who enjoyed being surrounded by children and laughter.
Ginny was an incredible artist with a paint brush, costume designer, and seamstress. She designed and created costumes for over 15 theatre productions in Newtown and Darien, and numerous wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses. With no formal training in fashion design, she was a natural talent. She was an accomplished athlete and bowled in leagues in Boca Raton and Brookfield. An avid golfer, she held trophies from Bloomerside Country Club in North Salem, N.Y., and Ridgefield Country Club.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Hessler (Thomas) and Patty Cowan (Bob); eight adored grandchildren: Chiara Chiaramonte, Kaylin Hessler, Lauren Hessler, and Andrew Hessler (Christie), Robert Cowan (Marie), Meredith Cowan, Jordan Cowan, and Payton Cowan; and three treasured great-grandchildren: Clay, Lilly, and Scotty. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Donna Carrick, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ginny was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom; her son, James Chiaramonte; and her brother, James Carrick.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 30, at the Saint Rose of Lima Parish Cemetery in Newtown.
