Young Missionary Seeks Support
Young Missionary Seeks Support
To the Editor:
Hi, my name is Mikayla Lingl; I am 10 years old, and a student in fourth grade at Middle Gate Elementary School in Newtown.
I recently viewed a video that Major Max, head of the Salvation Army in El Salvador, showed at our church. This video showed that the children of El Salvador, who had experienced devastating flooding, had no clothes, shoes, or homes. They were left homeless. It was very sad for me to see that they are uncared for, and probably feeling unloved. I want to help them, because I donât want to see children like that. I have been given the chance to go on a mission trip to El Salvador, with my church, Covenant Church of Easton. I will go for a week in July.
The cost of this trip is very expensive, but I want to go and help the children, who are less fortunate than me. I have to pay for my plane ticket, shots, and passport. Also, our goal is to be able to help Major Max build a study room and a library for the children at the orphanage. I would like to ask you to join me, and other businesses in the community to support my mission work. Any donation that you are able to give will be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions about my trip, you may contact Steve Reedy, coordinator to the El Salvador trip at the Covenant Church of Easton, at 203-371-8335. I thank you for your time in reading my letter. I hope that I can count on you to join me in supporting the children of El Salvador. I will be contacting you after you receive my letter. Thank you again for your support.
Sincerely,
Mikayla Lingl
