Walk-A-Thon Planned for Saturday, May 6th

SOUTHBURY — A family walk-a-thon will take place on Saturday, May 6, beginning at 9:30 am. The event is being sponsored by Southbury Senior Center Friend, Inc.

The walk, which is 1.5 miles long, will start and finish at the gazebo at Southbury Green shopping plaza on Main Street South. It will begin following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony by First Selectman Mark Cooper to formally dedicate the new streetscape along Main Street South.

The walk is fairly flat, with one slight elevation, and is suitable for all ages.

Registrations — at $15 for singles and $20 for families (free for ages 10 and under) — may be made in advance at the senior center, which is within Southbury Town Hall, 501 Main Street South (Route 6). Registration will also be accepted the day of the event between 9:30 and 10 am. Proceeds will benefit the building of Southbury’s new senior center.

Rain date is Sunday, May 7, with a starting time of 12:30 pm.
