Vehicles Vandalized

Sometime between 11 pm on April 18 and 9 am on April 19, someone used a hammer to put large dents on the rear passenger sides of two vehicles parked at Taunton Lake Road addresses, police said. The incidents occurred at 65 and 75 Taunton Lake Road, according to police.

The vandalism constitutes second degree criminal mischief. Police ask anyone with information on the crimes to call them at 270-8888.

Church Hill Crash

About 4:30 pm April 20, motorist Tricia Bobowick, 32, of 116 Underhill Road, who was driving a 2003 Isuzu westward on Church Hill Road, slowed for a yellow traffic signal at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Commerce Road, police report.

Westbound motorist Mark Linehan, 59, of Torrington, who was driving a 1999 Toyota behind the Isuzu, then struck the Isuzu from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Linehan a written warning for following too closely.

Drug Charges

Police said they stopped a motorist for speeding on The Boulevard at about 11:50 pm on April 20.

While investigating the case, police found that a male passenger in the vehicle had marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after which they arrested that passenger on charges of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After processing the arrest, police released the youth into the custody of his mother. The youth is scheduled for a May 5 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

Police arrested the boy as a “youthful offender,” meaning that he is either 16 or 17 years old, and consequently state law shields his identity from disclosure.

Great Ring Road

Motorist James Keegan, 29, of 39 Farrell Road was driving a 1994 Dodge northward on Great Ring Road about 12:24 am on April 16, when he heard a loud noise, after which the Dodge went off the right road shoulder near 69 Great Ring Road, police said.

The vehicle struck some curbing and a rock, but there were no injuries, police report. Keegan received an infraction for making a restricted turn, police said.

Bridgeport Man

Police said they were operating a stationary radar checkpoint near 28 Dodgingtown Road about 11:37 am April 20, when motorist Hector Santos, Jr, 25, of Bridgeport drove through the area traveling 55 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone.

Police stopped Santos to investigate, after which they arrested him on charges of traveling too fast and driving while under suspension.

Santos posted $100 bail and was released for a May 2 court appearance.

Church Hill Mishap

About 8:25 am on April 21, motorist Laureci Goncalves, 40, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Ford commercial landscaping truck eastward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Anne Champlain, 55, of Southbury was driving a 1999 Jeep station wagon westward there, police said.

The two left rear tires of the truck then disconnected from the vehicle near the Housatonic Railroad overpass and rolled downhill away from the truck, police said. One stray rolling tire struck the Jeep near Commerce Road, and the other rolling tire struck a nearby electric utility box, police said.

After the tire hit the utility box, there was an electrical outage in the area, police said. There were no injuries. Police charged Goncalves with a tire violation.

Toyota Vs Honda

Motorist Salvatore Scianna, III, 24, of Mountain View Drive was driving a 1998 Honda sedan southward near 150 South Main Street at about 11 am April 21, as motorist Daryle Washburn, 25, of Nearbrook Drive was driving a 1994 Toyota sedan northward there, police said.

After the Toyota slowed and attempted to make a left turn, it collided with the Honda, police said. There were no injuries. Washburn received a violation for making a restricted turn.

I-84 DUI

State police report that at about 3 am on April 22, they saw motorist William C. Clyne, 44, of Norwalk, driving a eastward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, but not maintaining his position within his travel lane, so they stopped him to investigate.

After giving him field sobriety tests, police charged Clyne with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the established lane. After processing, Clyne was released on $500 bail for a May 1 court appearance.

Highway DUI

State police said that motorist David E. Smith, 46, of 8 Bristle Lane, Sandy Hook, was driving a 2004 Mazda station wagon on Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 12:45 am April 19, when the vehicle struck some guardrailing on the highway median.

Smith then drove onto an Exit 9 off-ramp, state police said. There were no injuries.

After administering field sobriety tests, state police charged Smith with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. After processing, state police released him on $500 bail for a May 1 court appearance.

 

Dodgingtown Road

About 5:45 pm on April 24, motorist Donna McDonough, 67, of Easton, who was driving a 1998 Toyota southward near 29 Dodgingtown Road, stopped for some vehicles that were stopped in front of her, police said.

Southbound motorist Laura Rubinson, 45, of 11 Arlyn Ridge Road, who was driving a 2004 Toyota, attempted to stop but struck the 1998 Toyota from behind, police said.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Rubinson to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. Rubinson received an infraction ticket for following too closely.

 

DUI Charge

Police report that while on patrol about 12:20 am April 25, they spotted a motorist in a vehicle with its engine running and headlamps on that was parked in a parking lot on South Main Street, after which they stopped to investigate.

Police said that they gave the driver, Lynn Gallic, 48, of 46-A Riverside Road, some sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence.

After posting $60 bail, police released Gallic for a May 16 court appearance.

Compact Discs

Police report that a case containing some compact discs was found on West Street. Police are holding it for safekeeping. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim it.

DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Theodore Stoica, 35, of Monroe turned himself over to them at the police station on April 26, and was charged with driving under the influence and with reckless driving in connection with a motor vehicle accident in January.

Police have said that on the night of January 8, Stoica was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck southward on South Main Street, when the truck struck a tree at 277 South Main Street. Stoica was then transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries, police have said.

After posting $3,500 bail, police released Stoica for a May 10 court appearance.

MV Charges

On April 26, police charged motorist Chris Lewis, 21, of 34 Saw Mill Road with improper use of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without automotive insurance, police said. Police released Lewis on a promise to appear in court on May 11.

Two Charges

Police said on April 26 they charged Douglas Raigosa, 37, of 6 Lakeview Terrace with risk of injury to a minor and with driving with a passenger outside of a vehicle. Details on the incident were not available from police on the morning of April 27. Police released Raigosa on a promise to appear May 10 in Danbury Superior Court.
