Vice-President, Beloved By Many

James C. Malone, 86, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died April 15.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Catherine, in 1986 and is survived by his second wife, Dorothy N. Malone; four daughters, Cornelia Costello and her husband, Jed, of Newtown, Julie Malone of Branford, Cathy Burkhardt and her husband, Rick, of Stamford, and Peggy Malone of New York City.; two stepdaughters, Martha Hunter and son-in-law, Michael Elmer, of Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Hunter of Longwood, Fla.; grandson, James Costello of Savannah, Ga.; step-grandchildren, Christina Battiston of Boston, Anya Hunter of Longwood, Fla., and Thomas Hunter of Pittsburgh.

Mr Malone was a graduate from West Virginia University with a BSChE degree in 1941. He was hired by Union Carbide Corp in 1941 in South Charleston, W.Va. He had positions of increasing responsibility and was moved to UCC’s headquarters in New York City, becoming vice president in 1966. He retired in 1981 after 40 years of service.

An avid golfer, he was a former member of Pine Valley Golf Club in Pine Valley, N.J., Woodway Country Club in Darien, The Little Club in Gulf Stream, Fla., and Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was a remarkable gentleman and was loved by many. It was an honor to know him.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, at St Cecilia’s Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, at noon. Burial services will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
