Hospice Thanks Volunteers

To the Editor:

April 23–29 is National Volunteer Week. Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, Inc is delighted to take this opportunity to thank our many dedicated volunteers who so selflessly share their support, compassion, and commitment with us.

Since 1983, volunteers from the greater Danbury area have been supporting our mission to provide care, comfort, and compassion for those touched by life-limiting illness and loss. Everyday, volunteers from Regional Hospice visit with patients, provide respite for caregivers, work in our office, meet with bereaved adults, and help bereaved children work through their grief. Our fundraising volunteers established chapters in each of the towns in which they live, and work tirelessly to raise awareness and the much-needed funds to keep our mission alive. Corporations, civic and community organizations, and schools in Danbury and the surrounding towns have reached out to us with both their time and financial support. Members of the area’s artist community join with many of the staff at Boehringer Ingelheim and local restaurants and caterers to present the annual Regional Hospice Arts Festival & Cosmopolitan Buffet.

For 23 years we have been inspired by the example of all the volunteers of Regional Hospice. Everyday we are touched by their countless acts of thoughtfulness and generosity that seemingly have no limits. It is with such pride that we recognize all of our volunteers with whom we work and live. It is with honest humility we recognize that we are able to continue our work because of their commitment. Regional Hospice is blessed to have so many members of our community devote their time and their hearts to our mission.
