Sourdough Class At St Rose, May 4
Newtown First Selectman Jeff Capeci and Newtown Bee Copy Editor Kathy Ronan are offering another sourdough bread making class — this time with proceeds to benefit St Rose School.
The class will be held at Monsignor Weiss Gathering Hall in St Rose School, 40 Church Hill Road, on Sunday, May 4, from 1 to 3 pm. The cost is $15. All are welcome to attend.
In this fun, interactive class, participants will learn the art and science of making sourdough bread and will have hands-on opportunities to work with the dough if they choose.
They will enjoy tasting sourdough bread, complemented with butter, pesto, and garlic oil for dipping while they watch and learn. Participants also will receive a container of sourdough starter (needed for the bread to rise), Capeci and Ronan’s sourdough bread recipe and a PowerPoint presentation so they can make their own bread at home.
Previous classes offered by the two friends held at Newtown Community Center and Newtown Senior Center raised over $1,000 for FAITH Food Pantry, while a third was held at Newtown Volunteer Ambulance facility as a thank you to personnel and board members, not as a fundraiser.
