Joseph Vincent Summo
Joseph Vincent Summo, age 63, passed away on April 23, 2020. Born to Dr Anthony Summo and Mary Sorrentino Summo on February 21, 1957, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Joe graduated from Pelham Memorial High School in 1975 and Manhattan College in 1980.
Joe was a warm, gentle giant, loved by all who knew and met him. He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son, and uncle.
Married to Joan Cooke in 2002, Joe was manager of Newtown Hardware in Newtown, and vice president of Ren Corporation. Joe was a wonderful singer, from concert choir in high school to years of performing with Bookends, a popular Westchester County band in the 1970s, co-founded with Christopher Brown.
Joe is survived by his wife, Joan; children Elizabeth Summo, Katie (John) Kavouris, and Michael Summo; mother, Mary Summo; siblings Anthony (Barbara) Summo, Mary Maida (Dave Felten), Michael (Linda) Summo; step-children Christopher (Tara) Domagala, Gregory (Letitia) Domagala, Jesse (Nathaniel) Hainsworth; step grand-children Bela, Brendan, and Benjamin Domagala; nephews Michael and Matthew Maida, Christian and Mark Bellofatto, Anthony V. Summo, and niece Jessica Kingsbury.
Joe was predeceased by his father, Anthony Summo; sister Teresa Bellofatto; brother Robert Summo; nephew Nicholas Summo: brother-in-law Steve Cooke.
A private memorial will be held in the future.
