‘Sweeney Todd’ Casting Call

NEW MILFORD — TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking versatile actor-singers for its upcoming production of the musical Sweeney Todd, by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler.

The Tony Award-winning musical thriller blends moments of drama, black comedy and gorgeous song with horror. It will be directed by Bradford Blake.

A minimum of 18 actors is needed. Age range for a majority of the roles is 20 to 50, with at least one man and one woman 50 or older needed.

Actors should arrive prepared with a representative song from the Broadway repertoire in your appropriate key (transpositions will not be accommodated). An accompanist will be provided. Actors without sheet music will not be seen.

The auditions will be held at TheatreWorks from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, May 14, and Tuesday, May 15. All roles are available.

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in June and the show will run weekends, July 20 through August 18, 2001. Please note that actors and directors at TheatreWorks are volunteers and no pay is given. For directions call the box office at 860-350-6863.
