Nighthawk Track And Field Teams Compete At Blue & Gold Stadium
Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ track and field teams had their first home meet of the spring, entertaining Bethel and Immaculate of Danbury at Blue & Gold Stadium on April 22. On the girls’ side, NHS defeated Bethel 98.5-51.5 and beat Immaculate 149-1; in the boys’ meet, NHS lost to Bethel 115-35 and defeated Immaculate 116-24.
“Bethel has always been a tremendous program. Their athletes are excellent competitors and they are very well coached on both the boys and girls side of the program. Immaculate has also had some excellent teams as well as athletes across the years and has always competed at a high level,” Newtown Coach Nick Fraticelli said. “Our student-athletes performed tremendously well with numerous SWC conference championship qualifiers on both the girls’ as well as boys’ side in both individual events as well as in relay events. We are progressing well. “
