Newtown Choral Society will present “Soar,” a concert celebrating freedom, resilience, realization and beauty.

Under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Phil Crevier, the concert is set for Saturday, May 17, beginning at 4 pm, at The Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

Accompanied by guitar, bass, percussion, trumpet and piano, the concert highlight will be music from Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked.

Works by Lennon & McCartney, Andre Thomas, John Rutter, and spirituals are also planned as well as musical interpretations of the poetry of Langston Hughes & Walt Whitman.

Tickets are $15 adults, $10 students & seniors. They are available from choral society members and will also be sold at the door.
