Edmond Town Hall is proud to announce Steve Gross, founder of the Life is Good Playmaker Project, will be in Newtown for an inspiring evening of storytelling, insight, and hope on Thursday, May 8, at 7 pm. The special event will explore the power of optimism, play, and connection in the face of adversity — and how everyone can become a “Playmaker” in their own communities.

Steve Gross, MSW, is a recognized expert in utilizing joyful play to support the social and emotional well-being of children who have experienced trauma. Through his work with the Life is Good Playmaker Project, he has trained and supported thousands of childcare professionals and educators across the country, helping them create healing, life-changing relationships with the children they serve.

The Life is Good Playmaker Project is a nonprofit initiative that partners with frontline professionals — teachers, social workers, child-life specialists, and others — to build healing, life-changing relationships with children facing poverty, violence, and illness.

Gross’s appearance is part of the “Newtown Talks: Conversations on Culture, Society and Change” series sponsored by United Roofing of CT, Aquarion Water, and Castle Hill Farm, whose support underscores a shared commitment to uplifting youth, educators, and caregivers within the region.

Series co-founders Suzy DeYoung and Lee Shull will again moderate the discussion.

Edmond Town Hall Business Manager Lauren DiMartino says she and others “are thrilled to bring Steve Gross to Newtown.

“His message of resilience and joy is one we all need to hear,” she added. “Join us for an evening that will leave you uplifted, energized, and ready to spread the power of optimism in your own life.”

Tickets are $28 each and available at EdmondTownHall.org.

Doors will open at 6:30 pm, and the conversation begins at 7. A Q&A session will follow the talk.
