Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ track and field teams had their first meets of the season, with the girls visiting Bethel to take on the Wildcats and Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport on April 18, and the boys hosting Bethel and Kolbe at Blue & Gold Stadium on April 19.

For the girls, 11 team members qualified for the South-West Conference championship, and five qualified for the state championship meet. Newtown defeated Bethel 86-64 and Kolbe 149-1. The Nighthawks won every relay event. Top two finishers for Newtown in each individual event are as follows:
