The Doggie Fun Zone is scheduled to return to Cassio Pet Resort & Training Center, 173 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Newtown, from May 4-21.

Participating dogs will chase an elusive lure down straight-a-ways, around soft corners, and jump over or crawl under various scaled-down obstacles in an enclosed training yard.

Bring your show dog, couch dog, or best friend dog. This event requires no prior experience or training. Initially, the dog runs the course twice for a $12 fee. The first run is for experience and the second run is timed and posted. Fun Zone hours are from 9 am until dusk every day.

This fun-filled event is equally exciting for people as they watch a variety of dogs from miniature dachshunds to rottweilers run the course.

With the cooperation of restaurants and businesses in the area, many prizes and gift certificates will be awarded daily for the fastest time based on size, as well as several additional categories. Daily winners will draw a ticket to determine their prize. Repeating winners will draw from a separate group of tickets. Repeating winners can also continue to lower their time for the overall fastest dog.

All proceeds will be donated to the Spay & Neuter Association of Newtown, Danbury Animal Welfare Society, and The Animal Welfare Society of New Milford.

For information, contact Cassio during office hours: 8:15 am to noon or 3-6 pm at 203-426-2881.
