The Food Pantries

To the Editor:

Once again the residents of Newtown came out to support a Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC Inc, project.  Last Saturday, April 19, we held our 2nd Annual Federation For Food collection and were stationed at the Stop & Shop supermarket from 9 am to 3 pm, and residents generously donated food products, paper products, and made monetary donations. Almost 400 items were shared with the Salvation Army Food Cupboard and the FAITH Food Pantry, along with almost $200 that will be shared so the pantries can purchase perishable food for the families they serve.

We thank all of you who stopped by and helped us help the food pantries, we thank The Newtown Bee for the publicity, Big Y for a gift certificate, and we especially want to thank Stop & Shop for allowing us the opportunity to use their facility for this project. We hope to see you next year!
