Cake Decorator At New York Bake Shop

Hazel A. Cole, 91, of Southbury, previously of Danbury, died April 22 at the River Glen Nursing Home in Southbury. She was born February 1, 1917, in Danbury, the daughter of Alfred and Flora (Brush) Tilquist.

She is survived by her husband, LeGrande O. Cole, Sr, of Southbury; one daughter, Cynthia L. Vogel of Newtown; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jillian Cole of Southbury; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A niece and nephew also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lt Commander LeGrande O. Cole, Jr, USN; a son-in-law, Timothy E. Vogel; and one sister, June Ballard.

She was a cake decorator for the New York Bake Shop in Danbury and she enjoyed gardening and cake decorating as her hobby.

Calling hours are scheduled at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, Friday, April 25, from noon to 1 pm, where a funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Interment will be at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.

 In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations being made to VFW Post 149, 5 Byron Street, Danbury CT 06810.
