Garner Inmate Charged

With Third-Degree Assault

State police said they received a call from officials at Garner Correctional Institution about 11 pm April 14 reporting that one inmate allegedly assaulted another inmate at the high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.

After investigating the incident, state police charged inmate Christopher Young, 40, with third-degree assault for allegedly assaulting a 46-year-old inmate in the prison. The victim was injured in the incident, state police said.

Young was scheduled for an April 15 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court on the assault charge.
