Fundraiser Planned

For Mike Heneghan

Residents of Newtown and beyond are invited to have lunch or early dinner on Saturday, April 26, at Hot Shots Grille, which will be hosting a Mike Heneghan Fundraiser from 1 to 5 pm.

Mr Heneghan, a former Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue firefighter for ten years, was diagnosed in September 2007 with myelodysplastic syndrome. A preleukemia condition, the only treatment for MDS is a bone marrow transplant. Among other setbacks, the diagnosis has put Mr Heneghan’s plans to attend the Connecticut State Police Academy on hold for the time being.

On Saturday afternoon, however, friends and strangers can help Mike cover some of the expenses associated with his leukemia treatments. A buffet will be set up, there will be live music by Fog, there will be a 50-50 raffle and an auction, and admission for the full event is $10 (cash bar).
