About 11 pm April 20, police stopped motorist Washington Armando Orellana Londono, 20, of Danbury on Main Street because the Ford Escort that he was driving had a headlamp that was not lit, police report.

A search of the Ford revealed there to be a stolen coin telephone in the auto’s trunk, police said. The telephone’s coin box had been damaged and tools were found in the trunk that may have been used to damage the coin box, police said.

After investigating, police charged Londono with fourth-degree larceny, possession of burglary tools, driving with a nonfunctioning headlamp, misuse of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without automotive insurance, and driving without a license.

Police held Londono on $20,000 bail for an April 21 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

Police report that at about 6 am April 18, they stopped motorist Dornell Vereen, 54, of Bridgeport on Route 25 because the vehicle that Vereen was driving did not have a front marker plate.

After investigating, police charged Vereen with failure to display a marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Vereen on a written promise to appear May 2 in Danbury Superior Court.

Toyota Vs Pontiac

Police report a two-vehicle near 52 Church Hill Road about 12:11 pm April 17.

Westbound motorist Gregory Buzi, 19, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, stopped for a westbound noncontact vehicle that was ahead of him, police said.

Westbound motorist Erik Czerwiolski, 54, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1997 Toyota pickup truck, then struck the Pontiac from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Czerwiolski for following too closely.

Three-Car Crash

Police report a three-car accident at the western intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Blackman Road about 3:41 pm April 18.

Motorist Lisa Johnson, 52, of 157 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Cadillac DeVille sedan, stopped for traffic conditions on eastbound Mt Pleasant Road, police said.

Eastbound motorist Todd Dingee, 37, of 3 Main Street, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta, then stopped behind the Cadillac, police said.

Eastbound motorist Edna Pressmar, 86, of 21-D Nunnawauk Road, who was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable, then struck the Volkswagen from behind, pushing the Volkswagen into the rear end of the Cadillac, police said.

Dingee reported neck/shoulder pain but refused medical attention at the scene, police said. Pressmar received an infraction ticket for following too closely, police said.

Tonneau Cover

State police report that motorist Jose Silva, 53, of Danbury was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan minivan with passengers eastward on Interstate 84 in the center lane of three lanes at about 11:15 am April 20, as motorist Steven Kloeblen, 40, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup truck, was entering the highway on eastbound I-84’s Exit 9 on-ramp.

As the GMC then passed the Dodge, the GMC’s tonneau cover above its truckbed flew off the truck and struck the right side of the Dodge, damaging the Dodge, state police said.

No hospital transport was required, state police said. No information on enforcement was available.

Tire Tread

About 10:38 am April 18, tractor-trailer truck driver Marian Memselowski, 35, of Walden, N.Y., was driving a 2005 Mack eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, when a tire tread fell off one of the truck’s wheels and struck a 2005 Ford Taurus driven by Jennifer Edwards, 39, of Bethel, state police said.

The Ford was traveling behind the Mack when the incident occurred. There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Memselowski for driving with unsafe tires.

Crabapple Lane

Police report a case of sixth-degree larceny at a Crabapple Lane residence.

Sometime between 8 pm on April 18 and 1 pm on April 19, someone illegally removed various items from vehicles that were parked in a driveway at the home, police said.

Sixth-degree larceny involves the theft of items worth less than $250.

Police ask anyone with information on the theft to contact investigating Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Motorcycles Collide

 Police report an accident near 206 Berkshire Road (Route 34) involving two motorcycles in which there were no injuries. The collision occurred about 6:56 pm April 23.

Police said motorcyclist Matthew Amaral, 33, of 206 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 2006 Suzuki GSXR-750 eastward, slowed and moved toward the right in order to turn into the driveway at 206 Berkshire Road.

Eastbound motorcyclist Wayne Mead, 32, of 116 South Main Street, who was driving a 2004 Harley-Davidson FXD-WGT behind the Suzuki, then collided with the Suzuki, causing the Suzuki to fall onto its side and become damaged, police said.

The Harley-Davidson carried an adult female passenger, police said. Police issued Mead a written warning for following too closely.
