A Cool Sip Of Spring
A Cool Sip Of Spring
A pastel umbrella, short sleeves, and a pitcher filled with fresh-stirred lemonade soon followed the mid-April sunshine last week. Not a minute too soon to soothe residents dabbing at a light sheen of perspirations during one of the seasonâs first warm days, a group of friends crafted homemade signs announcing âLemonade and cookies!â and set up their stand on Main Street across from Edmond Town Hall. Appealing to a taste for something cold was another pitcher filled with iced tea.
Waving to passing cars and carefully counting their coins, friends Cally Peterson and Caroline Cole also made sure the pitchers of iced tea and lemonade were full and topped off with ice. Nina Rhyins stood in the umbrellaâs shade with them as her cousin Julia Rhyins squinted in the sunlight as she held her lemonade sign toward passing cars.
Despite the nice weather and general upbeat mood of a Friday afternoon in early spring, the Hawley School fourth graders and cousin from Brookfield had only helped a few customers indulge their thirst and sweet tooth.
