Hawleyville Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Currituck Road and Hawleyville Road in Hawleyville at 11:40 pm April 11.
Motorist Ryan Douglas Tracy, 18, of 25 Old Farm Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, failed to grant the right of way at a stop sign posted on Currituck Road at its intersection with Hawleyville Road, police said. The Jeep collided with a 1999 Toyota Camry that was being driven on Hawleyville Road by David Checkosky, 61, of Brookfield, police said.
Mark Checkosky, 20, of Brookfield, who was a front seat passenger in the Toyota, reported knee pain, police said.
Police issued Tracy an infraction ticket on a charge of disobeying a stop sign.
Warrant Served
Police said they served an arrest warrant against Marshall Toth, 38, of Wallingford on April 17 at Danbury Superior Court.
The warrant listed charges of failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and failure to have headlamps illuminated in connection with an incident in Newtown last October 16, police said.
Police said Toth was arraigned on those charges in court on April 17.
Southbury Man
Police report that while investigating an unrelated incident at about 7:20 pm April 18 at the parking lot at 100 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center, they spotted John T. Tolster, 41, of Southbury.
Police said they then confirmed that they held a warrant for Tolsterâs arrest and charged him with failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, making an improper signal, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and failure to have automotive insurance.
The charges stem from an incident last October 23, police said. After processing Tolsterâs arrest, police released him on a $350 bond for a May 5 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

House Vandalized
Sometime between April 5 and 17, someone vandalized a residence at 203 Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook, breaking windows and spray painting the buildingâs interior, police report.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of who committed the crimes to contact them at 426-5841.
Cell Phone Mishap
Motorist Amanda Bloom, 18, of 30 Ridge Road was driving a 1995 Saturn SC-1 westward on Jeremiah Road and talking on a cellular telephone at about 5 pm April 18, when Bloom became distracted, went off the road, and entered a ditch, police report.
Neither Bloom, nor passenger Kelly OâNeil, 16, of Newtown, were injured in the mishap, police said. Police verbally warned Bloom for making a restricted turn.
Dodge Vs Acura
Motorist Austin Lyle Samsel, 17, of 15-A Old Green Road was driving a 2003 Acura RSX westward on Church Hill Road and was slowing down to turn left into the St Rose Church parking lot at about 12:38 pm April 17, when westbound motorist Mary Polson, 44, of 24 Taunton Lake Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Caravan minivan, struck the rear end of the Acura, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Polson a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Highway Crash
Tractor-trailer truck driver Glenn Ward Shelby, 46, of Waterford, Mich., was driving in the right lane of eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, at about 3:30 pm April 17, when eastbound motorist Keith Clarke, 38, of Windsor, who was driving a 1993 Nissan Quest in the left lane, swerved and struck the truck, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police issued Clarke an infraction ticket for failure to stay in his travel lane.
Merge Problem
State police report that motorist Rosemarie Fattibene, 62, of 37 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 1999 Nissan sedan on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, made an unsafe merge maneuver at the end of a climbing lane and collided with an eastbound a tractor-trailer truck driven by Kevin Rand, 45, of Easton, Me., at about 5:16 pm April 16.
There were no injuries. State police said Fattibene made an unsafe merge.
Honda Into Cables
Motorist Stacey Enright, 29, of 3 Pastorâs Walk, who was driving a 1996 Honda Civic in the center lane of westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, at about 10:44 pm April 14, went into the right lane and then struck steel guard cabling along the right road shoulder, state police said.
State police said Enright told them that a truck had entered the center lane, causing her to take evasive action, resulting in the accident. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Enright to Danbury Hospital to be checked as a precaution, state police said.
Nissan Off Road
Motorist Daniel R. Pister, 17, of 12 Echo Valley Road was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima eastward on Horseshoe Ridge Road and attempted to turn left onto Old Farm Hill Road at about 9 pm April 18, when Pister lost control of the auto, went onto the lawn of 31 Old Farm Hill Road, and then struck some trees, police said.
Police said the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated Pister at the scene for an arm injury.
Police said they issued Pister an infraction ticket listing charges of making a restricted turn, failure to have his driverâs learnerâs permit in his possession, and failure to have a driving instructor present in the vehicle.
Incident
Police said they attempted to stop Peter Ghent, 38, of 2 Walnut Tree Hill Road to investigate suspicious activity at the parking lot of 100 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center on the evening of April 18, but Ghent refused to cooperate and left the area.
Police said they then located Ghent about 20 minutes later and transported him to the police station where they charged him with second-degree reckless endangerment and interfering with police. Police said they released Ghent on a $2,500 bond for a May 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Burglary/Larceny
Police report they arrested Clinton McDevitt, 31, of Bridgeport on a warrant on April 21 in Bridgeport in connection with an incident last December 7 on Farmery Lane in Newtown.
 Police charged McDevitt with first degree failure to appear in court, third degree burglary, and third degree larceny. Police held McDevitt on a $75,000 bond for an April 22 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Possession
Police said Brian P. Gibbons, 20, of 55 Cedar Hill Road turned himself over to police at about 6 pm April 21 after learning that police held a warrant for his arrest.
Police said they charged Gibbons with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the charges stem from a January 29 incident when marijuana and paraphernalia were found at Gibbonsâ residence during the course of a medical call there. Police released Gibbons on a promise to appear May 1 in Danbury Superior Court.
Sandy Hook Crash
A three-vehicle accident took place on westbound Route 34 at about 11:26 am April 22, police said.
Motorist John Kustra, 41, of Branford, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Astrovan, stopped for a stopped vehicle, which was waiting to make a left turn onto High Rock Road, police report. Motorist John Eldrich, 46, of Hamden, who was driving a 2001 Volvo V-70 station wagon, then stopped behind the Chevrolet.
Motorist Richard Mileto, 46, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Corolla, then braked heavily on the wet roadway, but skidded, and crashed into the rear end of the Volvo, pushing the Volvo into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Mileto an infraction ticket for following too closely.
BMW Into Pole
Motorist Gary Lyon, 46, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1992 BMW 325-ES coupe northward on South Main Street near 168 South Main Street at about 6:40 pm April 23, told police that he fell asleep at the wheel, after which the auto crossed the roadâs centerline, went off the southbound road shoulder, and struck a utility pole.
Police said Lyon was uninjured. Police issued Lyon a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
Larceny Charge
Police report they were assisting disabled motorist John J. Jacewicz, 53, of Waterbury on Mile Hill Road at about 10:30 am April 23, when they learned that the U-Haul box truck that Jacewicz was driving was reported as stolen from Naugatuck. Police charged Jacewicz with first degree larceny, after which they released him on a promise to appear May 14 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Main Street DUI
Police said motorist Alan B. Dean, 41, of 14 Old Hawleyville Road was driving a station wagon northward on Main Street, near Edmond Town Hall, at about 10:20 pm April 23, when the vehicle drifted to the right and struck an unoccupied station wagon that was parked along the right side of the road.
Police said Dean was not injured in the accident. Following an investigation, police charged Dean with driving under the influence and making a restricted turn. Police released Dean on a $250 bond for a May 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
