Business Buzz: Indigo Jane Boutique Is Owner’s Dream Come True
Your Business: Indigo Jane Boutique
Owners/Manager: Valerie Fallon
What inspired you to open your business?
“After years working as an account manager handling marketing and advertising, it was always a dream of mine to open my own boutique. I’ve been living in Newtown for 28 years and I love style and home décor — the time was right and I found this great location. So I just want everyone to come in and experience Indigo Jane and what we have to offer. We’ve outfitted our space to be warm and fun, we’re using mostly reclaimed display pieces, including an old drawing table from Sikorsky.”
What would you most like Newtown Bee readers to know about your business?
“I didn’t want to be duplicative of any big box shopping experience, so I’m sourcing from a number of women-owned and local businesses, including offering some framed images from local photographer Phil Keane. As a mother of three daughters and as a businesswoman myself, I believe in supporting, promoting, and rewarding the strength and accomplishments of all women. The boutique offers women’s casual clothing, gifts including baby items, jewelry, natural bath and body items, [and] accessories, as well as small home décor pieces. Our clients expect the merchandise to be on-trend, which we’re doing with a particular focus on denim — which are really hard to buy online. So if women are looking for a great pair of denim jeans, we carry three brands. We’re also planning on having new stock on hand every couple of weeks, and I’m looking forward to getting to know our customers so we can better suit their needs.”
