Nancy Elizabeth Nightingale, 79, formerly of Garden City, N.Y., and recently of Newtown, died April 22. She was the widow of Jack Ernest Nightingale, Sr. She was the daughter of Anna and Charles Ottmann.

Mrs Nightingale graduated from Gettysburg College, Class of 1960, and was employed through the years by IBM, as well as Trinity Lutheran School in Hicksville, N.Y. She was a longtime member and active volunteer at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Garden City, and more recently a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown. She enjoyed spending time doing various activities at the Newtown Senior Center and quilting with her church.

Her son, Jack E. Nightingale, Jr, and spouse Christine; daughter, Pamela Dawn Wirth and spouse Martin Wirth; and grandchildren, Martin J. Wirth and Kimberly E. Wirth, survive her.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 25 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Funeral Services will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 85 Mount Pleasant Road, Newtown, on Thursday, April 26, at a time to be announced. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.
