The Lowest Budget

To the Editor:

Next Tuesday is the referendum for Newtown’s budget. The budget that has been approved by the Legislative Council is the lowest budget our town has seen in my memory.

Our elected officials thoughtfully worked to balance the needs of our community and schools with this unprecedented economic time. Now, we as the citizens of this community need to vote Yes on Tuesday. This may not be the most desirable budget as this has necessitated pay freezes, furlough days for staff, etc, but it is essential that it is passed by the voters to prevent any further cuts.
