Paul W. Sherman

US Navy Veteran

Paul W. Sherman, 76, died peacefully in his home in Newtown. He was born October 30, 1932, in Trumbull, the son of Laurence and Gertrude Sherman.

Mr Sherman is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Keeton Sherman; son Gerald and his wife, Susan, of Royalston, Mass.; daughter Jodi Sherman and her husband, David Fishgold, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons Justin and Nathan Sherman; sister Janet Porteous; sister-in-law Jane Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr Sherman was a veteran of the US Navy submarine service. He retired from SNET in 1985 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed carpentry, pinochle, bowling, and a good joke.

He was admired for his courage and patience during his long struggle with MS.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 16, at 11 am, at the Newtown United Methodist Church.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is assisting the family.
