She grew up in Glen Cove, N.Y., and attended Misericordia Nursing School in New York City where she earned her registered nursing degree in 1958. She married her true love on July 12, 1958, and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last July surrounded by children, grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Family was the joy of her life and her faith was its bedrock. She was a parishioner of St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Newtown.
In addition to her husband, Mrs DeMarco is survived by four daughters, Jean M. Milano and her husband, Thomas, of Sandy Hook, Donna M. DeMarco of Brookfield, Susanne M. Brown and her husband, Matthew, of Jackson, N.J., and Lisa A. Green and her husband, Brekke, of Lake Ariel, Penn.; and a son, Donald P. DeMarco of Cary, N.C. Her 13 grandchildren, as well as her two great-grandsons, also survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 22 at St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment in St Rose Cemetery in Sandy Hook.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Masonicare in Newtown for the care provided to Mrs DeMarco this past year, the various members of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the wonderful staff at Danbury Hospital for always providing fine care and compassion, most especially its ICU team.
